Della possibilità di effettuare il download in locale dei propri tweet, dal primo all’ultimo, se ne parla già da qualche tempo a questa parte.

A settembre dell’anno corrente, a tal proposito, Dick Costolo, il CEO del celebre servizio di micro blogging, aveva fatto sapere che la possiblità di effettuare il backup dei propri tweet e di scaricare poi il tutto direttamente sulla postazione multimediale o sul device in uso sarebbe stata concessa entro la fine del 2012.

Il fatidico momento sembra oramai essere abbastanza vicino poiché proprio qualche giorno fa il CEO di Twitter è tornato a parlare rassicurando tutti, durante un recente incontro presso la University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy, sul fatto che ben presto sarà a disposizione la tanto auspicata feature e che tale opzione verrà resa disponibile, così come dichiarato mesi fa, entro la fine dell’anno.

Costolo e l’intero team di Twitter stanno quindi cercando di fare il possibile al fine di poter rendere disponibile la nuova feature rispettando le tempistiche inizialmente dichiarate ma se si considera il fatto che allo stato attuale delle cose vengono pubblicati, stano ai più recenti dati, circa 15 mila tweet al secondo la messa online di uno strumento efficace e che permetta di effettuare il backup dei propri messaggi non dev’essere una cosa da poco.

Per il momento ogni utente può accedere solo agli ultimi 3.200 tweet per una questione di limiti fissati delle API mentre per vedere tutti i propri messaggi è possibile ricorrere all’impiego di un client di terze parti.

Durante l’incontro Costolo ha affrontato anche altri argomenti interessanti come, ad esempio, quello del notvole incremento di utenti da quando è diventato CEO, quello dei 3 mila tweet al secondo che sono stati pubblicati durante la Coppa del Mondo del 2010 e quello della collaborazione con il governo giapponese.

Costolo, infine, ha rassicurato tutti in merito al fatto che il numero di caratteri disponibili per ciascun tweet non verrà ampliato e che continuerà ad essere pari a 140.
