Greenpeace, i Social Media salveranno il pianeta

“I Social Media ci hanno aiutati moltissimo, hanno contribuito a salvare il pianeta“. Parola del direttore esecutivo di Greenpeace, Kumi Naidoo, in un’intervista rilasciata alla CNN. Così come i moltissimi brand che, da qualche tempo, si stanno avvalendo delle potenzialità del marketing sui SM per pubblicizzare prodotti o fare un po’ di buzz intorno alle campagne, anche Greenpeace ha deciso di sfruttare le innovazioni e il web per informare i consumatori su quanto avviene nel mondo, in particolare al caso Nestlè.

Naidoo ha riferito che l’aiuto e il sostegno di Youtube, Twitter e Facebook è risultato decisivo nella campagna contro la società francese Nestlè e l’approvvigionamento indebito dell’olio di palma che aveva causato (e continua a causare) la deforestazione di alcune zone, sempre per lasciare spazio alle piantagioni utili al mercato dell’azienda.

Dopo il lancio in Marzo del video del finto Kit-Kat formato dalle dita di un orango, per mettere in luce i soprusi dell’azienda francese nei confronti dell’ambiente, lo scenario è decisamente cambiato, come ha sostenuto lo stesso Naidoo nell’intervista: “Il video shock, visualizzato milioni di volte da utenti di tutto il mondo, ha sensibilizzato rispetto al problema e ha fatto in modo che Nestlè tornasse sui suoi passi, modificando il proprio comportamento”.

Gli utenti, visto il video, hanno deciso di criticare l’operato della Nestlè sulle sue pagine ufficiali di Twitter e Facebook, scatenando, a catena, la reazione dei vertici dell’azienda.

I SM hanno contribuito a proporre sul web un altro punto di vista, quello della natura e dell’ambiente, funestato da scelte non sempre in linea con i bisogni e le necessità dell’ecosistema.

“Sono impressionato dalla capacità dei SM di raggiungere i consumatori“, ha detto il direttore esecutivo di Greenpeace, “Il bello dei Social Media è proprio questo: creare nuove forme di comunicazione che possano raggiungere tutti, e informare tutit coloro che si interessano delle sorti di questo Pianeta“.
