Siamo alle solite. Facebook in Tribunale, negli Stati Uniti d’America contro i cittadini. Questa volta a mandarlo sul banco d’accusa è stata una class action avviata dai rappresentanti dei consumatori. Secondo quanto pubblicato sul Financial Times, sono oltre 2.000 gli utenti di Facebook che si lamentano della gestione economica del social network in rapporto alle proprie applicazioni. Il caso sembra nasca dal fatto che questo migliaio di utenti iscritti a Facebook, si sia visto addebitare sulla propria carta di credito determinate spese (non autorizzate a monte) per l’utilizzo di giochi on line ed applicazioni eseguite attraverso il social network.

A partire da questa causa, il Senato americano, continua ad indagare sulle pratiche di marketing della società e soprattutto sulle pubblicità e gli annunci “trappola” presenti sul sito. Parliamo di quei banner laterali che parlano continuamente di aumento di popolarità mostrando formose modelle che incitano al “cliccare”.

Secondo l’accusa, infatti, basta fare click (anche involontariamente) su un banner di quelli per vedersi sottrarre dal proprio conto corrente delle spese accreditate poi a Facebook. Ma a finire sul banco degli imputati, non è stata solo Facebook, ma anche la società Zynga, curatrice dei maggiori network gaming mondiali.

Questa causa è stata presa in mano dallo studio legale Kershaw Cutter and Ratinoff con sede a Sacramento, ed ha visto battersi tutti gli utenti contro Facebook. A farsi portavoce degli utenti definitisi “truffati”, è stata la signora Rebecca Swift, che ha mostrato documentazioni per aver subito un addebbito primo di circa 80 dollari, per arrivare poi ad 86 dollari e così via. Tutto questo per disdire un servizio del costo di soli 6 dollari.

Il Financial Times, ha però fatto commentare il suo articolo ad esperti del settore che hanno dichiarato apertamente l’inutilità di questa causa a Facebook, anche perchè i sistemi colpevoli di questa “truffa” non sono ospitati sui server di Facebook ma su altri network.
