Facebook e il giornalismo d’inchiesta

Da quando è cominciata, l’avventura di Facebook è cambiata radicalmente: da trasposizione degli archivi studenteschi delle Università statunitensi, oggi è il social network numero uno nel mondo, che permette non solo di mantenere e nutrire i propri contatti, ma è utile anche per farne di nuovi, lavorare meglio se si è nel settore di comunicazione, marketing e giornalismo, essere più informati e connessi e migliorare così lo stato di salute della democrazia e della propria vita quotidiana.

Brandee Barker, il direttore della comunicazione di Facebook ha dichiarato: “Ognuno oggi è editore di se stesso: noi mettiamo in contatto le persone e se uno la prima volta si iscrive a Facebook per trovare amici, poi scopre anche l’informazione, i video, le foto, la discussione e l’interattività. Tutto questo crea valore, per noi e per tutta la rete”.

Ecco allora che il prossimo passo di Facebook è alzare il livello dei contenuti: i membri dell’azienda hanno infatti fatto sapere che hanno intenzione a breve di unire i servizi social del network con un’informazione di qualità. L’Huffington Post, per esempio, è uno dei primi grandi media che ha lavorato con successo sul concetto di “social news”, ed è per questo che Facebook lo sta prendendo seriamente come modello per i suoi prossimi sviluppi.

Nelle pagine create su Facebook dall’Huffington Post gli utenti possono stare in contatto con gli amici e discutere con loro le notizie. Il risultato è eccezionale: grazie alla sua attività su Facebook, l’Huffington Post ha incrementato del 500% i propri contatti con una crescita degli utenti del 50%.

In Italia qualcosa del genere lo fa già Informare per Resistere e Informazione Libera, oltre a tutte quelle altre pagine su Facebook su cui gli utenti creano contenuti solo per il gusto di condividere e commentare insieme le notizie di attualità. Il rapporto tra Facebook e l’informazione è sempre più importante, tanto che molti giornalisti ormai lo utilizzano per il loro lavoro, anche per le loro inchieste.

Il giornalismo d’inchiesta, infatti, che per molti è ormai morto e sepolto, assume tutta un’altra valenza sul social network e guadagna molti vantaggi per quanto riguarda la velocità e la facilità di ricerca e diffusione dei contenuti. Jon Swartz, per esempio, giornalista di Usa Today, ha questa abitudine tutta nuova di lavorare: lancia temi sulla sua pagina Facebook, raccoglie informazioni dagli utenti, ne discute con loro e poi scrive le sue storie su Usa Today riportando le parole dei lettori.

Qualcuno può restare perplesso da questa forma di “giornalismo misto”, che unisce il giornalismo tradizionale con il citizen journalism. Eppure sono questi i nuovi obiettivi per garantire lo sviluppo futuro della società: “Vogliamo aiutare le persone a condividere sul web ogni cosa, ovunque, in ogni momento, e portare le notizie nel mondo”, dice Brandee.
