Canada: Facebook si scontra con la privacy

Dopo tante questioni avutesi nell’ambito di notizie nazionali ed internazionali, viene il dubbio che il binomio social network – privacy, non sia possibile. L’ennesima questione legale legata alla privacy riguarda il popolare social network Facebook e la regione Canadese. La gestione degli utenti e dei loro dati personali, infatti, sembrerebbe non essere perfettamente in linea con le normative a tutela della privacy in vigore in Canada. Questo è riportato dalle notizie quotidiane dell’agenzia di stampa Reuters, che ha citato testualmente alcune delle dichiarazioni fatte dal Commissario alla Privacy del Canada: Jennifer Stoddart.
Le dichiarazioni scottanti e ad alto rischio per il noto social network, parlerebbero in particolare della impossibilità di una definitiva cancellazione dei dati personali intesi come foto e attitudini (oltre che contatti), dai server del network Facebook. L’opzione di disattivazione standard prevista dal social network prevede, infatti, solo ed esclusivamente la disattivazione dell’account senza parlare nelle opzioni e nelle norme legali di cancellazione definitiva dei propri dati personali dal database, oltre che la non dicitura di una tempistica per la cancellazione.
Esiste inoltre la possibilità di cancellare il proprio accout cnon una procedura specifica, ma oltre alla poca pubblicizzazione di questa procedura da parte di Facebook, si corre comunque il rischio di determinati dati che rimangono per sempre memorizzati nel database di Facebook.

Questa possibilità è stata evidenziata dal fatto che seppur cancellando la propria iscrizione dal servizio, dopo una eventuale registrazione nuova con lo stesso indirizzo e-mail, i dati personali risultano ancora li.
In base a queste ragioni, la Stoddard ha annunciato l’avvio di una indagine a riguardo, dove dall’esito potrebbe uscirne fuori una soluzione già adottata in altri paesi anglosassoni.

 

Rimane comunque la certezza che Facebook non è l’unico social network o sito web che mette a rischio la privacy. L’esempio più lampante è Word Press che da la possibilità di apertura / scrittura / chiusura dei propri blog, senza dare l’opzione di cancellazione definitiva del proprio account.
