Pepsi usa i social network per rilanciare Gatorade

Pepsi, la celebre azienda produttrice di bevande e della omonima bibita, ha pensato di usare i social network per rilanciare il marchio Gatorade, che da più di tre anni perde terreno nei confronti del rivale Powerade (di proprietà della Coca Cola).

L’azienda ha dato vita ad un team interno (chiamato Mission Control) che si occuperà di monitorare i principali social network per capire la percezione degli utenti sul prodotto. In base a questo verranno poi elaborate strategie di marketing per riportare in alto le vendite.

Sono tantissime le aziende che, negli ultimi anni, si sono rivolte ai social network. Nella maggior parte dei casi con una pagina o un profilo aziendale utile per fare pubblicità a costo zero, ma non sono. Moltissime multinazionali hanno personale specializzato incaricato di monitorare e tenere sotto controllo Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, FriendFeed ed altri portali social estremamente popolari. Il motivo? Scoprire se gli utenti parlano bene o male di un prodotto, se hanno intenzione di acquistarlo o meno, capire se preferiscono prodotti analoghi della concorrenza. Esattamente come vuole fare Pepsi per rilanciare la sua storica bevanda sul mercato.

In tutto questo, ci sono purtroppo numerose aziende che pagano profumatamente persone e blogger per esprimere opinioni positive su un prodotto nei social network, nei blog o nei forum. I navigatori, tendenzialmente, tendono a fidarsi del pareri degli altri utenti, senza sospettare che in realtà l’opinione è stata manipolata ed è tutto tranne che reale.

Esistono anche società specializzate che si offrono (dietro lauto pagamento, logicamente) di ripulire l’immagine delle aziende, eliminando post e commenti negativi su un prodotto o su un marchio specifico.

Inutile dire che queste manovre sono assolutamente contrarie ai principi di libertà ed uguaglianza che vigono in rete. Siamo sicuri, comunque, che nei prossimi anni, i social network diventeranno un punto cruciale per il marketing online, più di quanto non lo siano già adesso.
