Secondo la stampa americana, inoltre, MySpace non ha più introiti suoi, ma vive solo ed esclusivamente degli accordi presi con Google e di conseguenza, visto che il contratto tra i due Big è in scadenza (e Google non è molto propensa a rinnovare il contratto), Rupert Murdoch sta cercando di mettersi al riparo. Ha infatti dichiarato che: “Solo Dio sa cosa faremo con MySpace“. Secondo i lavoratori del settore marketing, in questo preciso momento del mercato, se non ci saranno pubblicità in grado di reggere il portale, si auspica una chiusura del social network. Inoltre Chris DeWolfe, precedente CEO e cofondatore del sito, ha lasciato il suo posto prima di ulteriori disastri.
