Il valore di “un” Facebook

Quanto è diventato grande ormai Facebook? In quanti sono disposti a cedere una fetta della propria vita e permettere l’invasione della propria privacy solo per il gusto di esserci? Ma soprattutto, quanti sono i soggetti (o le aziende) nel mondo che possono realmente permettersi di pensare a fare business con Facebook? Cerchiamo di dare qualche risposta ai nostri quesiti, partendo da alcuni dati statistici divulgati dai maggiori centri di ricerca mondiali.
Uno degli avvenimenti recenti che ha portato ad un aumento spropositato delle visite su Facebook è stato l’ingresso on line del Papa Benedetto XVI che tramite l’applicazione Pope2You ha permesso al noto social network di contare l’oltre mezzo milione di contatti in poco più di 24 ore. Il risultato era atteso anche perchè il Pontefice 2.0 (così battezzato dalla stampa), aveva già avuto lo stesso effetto quando ha aperto il proprio canale di YouTube.
Ma Facebook ha avuto di recente anche dei riconoscimenti fini a se stesso grazie al premio vinto come Grande Fratello ai Big Brother Award del convegno e-Privacy nell’edizione del 2009. Anche se tutti questi input sembrano e sono positivi, però, Facebook ha anche delle gatte da pelare che non sono da poco. In primis la questione privacy che è in combutta continua tra gli iscritti ed i non iscritti che si trovano on line senza sapere nè come nè quando. Per non parlare poi di un “guaio” che perseguitava da tempo Facebook è che “finalmente” è stato risolto. Parliamo dello scontro tra Facebook e Think Computer che per lungo tempo hanno patteggiato sul marchio. Questa “battaglia” è cominciata già nel lontano 2003, quando la Think Computer rilascio sul mercato House System, un portale dedicato agli studenti di Harvard che aveva una sezione specifica chiamata “The Universal Face Book” o “The Face Book”. La causa è stata chiusa con una risoluzione definitiva basata su 65 milioni di dollari.
Tornando al discorso privacy però, i recenti studi dell’Università di Cambridge hanno rilevato notizie importanti, e cioè che le foto dei profili cancellati, permangono sui sever del sito per almeno 30 giorni e ciò è vista come una reale minaccia alla privacy di chi vuole cancellarsi (questo problema però colpisce anche MySpace).
Secondo il Wall Street Hournal, però, Digital Sky Technologies di Mail.ru, vorrebbe investire circa 200 milioni di dollari per Facebook (quindi circa l’1,5% data l’acquisizione dell’1,6%  di Microsoft con 240 milioni di dollari).
