Per i milioni di utenti WhatsApp in procinto di passare al nuovo brillante iPhone 12, c’è consapevolezza di essere in procinti di vedere iMessage di Apple mostrare a WhatsApp come iniziare a funzionare su un nuovo dispositivo senza compromettere la sicurezza. I principali problemi previsti con iPhone 12 e WhatsApp

Il problema riguarda iCloud di Apple e i modi molto diversi in cui WhatsApp e iMessage utilizzano iCloud ogni giorno e, in modo critico, per trasferire su un nuovo dispositivo. Il “backup della chat” di WhatsApp offre iCloud come unica opzione e consiglia di utilizzare questo backup per ripristinare i messaggi su un nuovo iPhone. “Esegui il backup della cronologia chat e dei contenuti multimediali su iCloud”, dice, “quindi se perdi il tuo iPhone o passi a uno nuovo, la cronologia chat è al sicuro”. Ma l’uso della parola “sicuro” ha un serio avvertimento.

Fondamentalmente, “i media e i messaggi di cui esegui il backup”, ammette WhatsApp, “non sono protetti dalla crittografia end-to-end di WhatsApp mentre sei su iCloud”.
