Fondata nel 1998, Gracenote, ora proprietà della Sony, è una nota compagnia che si occupa di un vastissimo database musicale, formalmente chiamato CDDB (Compat Disc Database). È di questi ultimi giorni la notizia che l’azienda ha intrapreso un accordo con il noto social network Twitter per favorire l’attività dei musicisti e dei gruppi musicali sul social. Infatti, con il grande database sarà possibile rendere più semplice e veloce ottenere un account verificato sulla piattaforma.  C’è ancora molto riservo su tutto ciò che effettivamente si potrà fare sulla piattaforma, ma la partnership stretta è sicuramente unica nel suo genere.

 

Il tutto viene fatto per rivitalizzare il settore della musica attraverso una spinta che parta da uno dei social network più noti al mondo. Infatti, al momento le procedure utilizzate dalla piattaforma per verificare gli account musicali sono piuttosto contorte e richiedono molto tempo. Così si cercherà di aiutare i musicisti a postare più semplicemente le proprie tracce su Twitter. Questa partnership, oltre a garantire maggiore visibilità ad entrambe le piattaforme, è un modo per potersi scambiare contatti e rinforzare la propria brand awareness. Inoltre, Twitter sta diventando il modo più veloce per poter interagire direttamente con i personaggi del mondo dello spettacolo che si amano. È noto a tutti quanti artisti della musica italiana e non solo come Jovanotti, Francesco Facchinetti, Barbara D’Urso, Elisabetta Canalis, siano attivi sul social network e nella comunicazione diretta con i propri fan. Il presidente di Gracenote, Stephen White, ha dichiarato:

 

“Twitter sta diventando la piattaforma di comunicazione per gli artisti e altre celebrità, che possono restare connessi con i propri fan. Gracenote lavora con etichette, artisti e manager: con la portata e l’ampiezza del nostro database, sarà possibile verificare gli artisti in modo effettivo ed efficiente, provvedendo a fornire Account Verificati in modo migliore e dando agli utenti Twitter più informazioni sugli artisti che amano.”
