La fonte di queste informazioni è un hacker francese che si fa chiamare Hacker Croll, in passato già protagonista di simili imprese. Il cybercriminale ha inferto un duro colpo alla sicurezza di Twitter, entrando in possesso di molte informazioni riservate come l’elenco completo dei dipendenti e il relativo salario, le preferenze alimentari, la corrispondenza privata e aziendale, e naturalmente tutte le password degli account PayPal e Amazon, dei profili Facebook e altro ancora.
