Twitter sotto attacco hacker

Nuovi guai per Twitter. In seguito ad un attacco hacker, sono stati trafugati alcuni documenti riservati e i dati personali dei dipendenti di Twitter. Queste informazioni poi sono state inviate alle redazioni e ai siti di news di mezzo mondo, che ora hanno l’occasione di pubblicare i segreti e le indiscrezioni del network, uno dei colossi della blogosfera. La fonte di queste informazioni è un hacker francese che si fa chiamare Hacker Croll, in passato già protagonista di simili imprese. Il cybercriminale ha inferto un duro colpo alla sicurezza di Twitter, entrando in possesso di molte informazioni riservate come l’elenco completo dei dipendenti e il relativo salario, le preferenze alimentari, la corrispondenza privata e aziendale, e naturalmente tutte le password degli account PayPal e Amazon, dei profili Facebook e altro ancora.

Ma questa disavventura pone l’accento non solo sulle falle della sicurezza di Twitter, ma introduce anche un problema di giornalismo etico che riguarda le redazioni dei quotidiani web che hanno ricevuto le informazioni confidenziali inviate loro da Hacker Croll, e cioè cosa fare di tutto questo materiale. Pubblicarlo significherebbe una grave violazione della privacy, ma lasciarsi scappare un’occasione del genere non sarebbe comunque una mossa intelligente.

Il sito di TechCrunch è fra i destinatari di questo materiale riservato, e la redazione alla fine ha deciso di pubblicare alcuni di questi documenti. Il fondatore di TechCrunch, Michael Arrington, ha dichiarato che non verranno divulgati dati sensibili, codici di sicurezza, o informazioni imbarazzanti, ma il sito pubblicherà invece una serie di documenti sulle proiezioni finanziarie, le strategie, e i piani esecutivi che riguardano la piattaforma Twitter. Questa precisazione, però, non ha messo al riparo Arrington dalle critiche e dai commenti di chi non approva la sua scelta.
