Il binomio costituito da Whatsapp e dalla sicurezza da sempre fa discutere moltissimo gli addetti ai lavori e gli utenti. A maggior ragione ora che dal Regno Unito giunge un nuovo monito, visto che le istituzioni governative ritengono che, allo stato attuale app del genere costituiscano un luogo sicuro per i terroristi.

Questo almeno è quello che emerge da una presa di posizione netta e piuttosto dura da parte del Ministro dell’Interno del Regno Unito, che potrebbe dare il là ad un nuovo aggiornamento futuro per Whatsapp:

“Dobbiamo fare in modo che organizzazioni come WhatsApp non forniscano un posto segreto per i terroristi per comunicare gli uni con gli altri. […] E’ necessario che i nostri servizi di intelligence abbiano la possibilità di oltrepassare alcuni servizi di sicurezza come la crittografia di WhatsApp”.

Insomma, occhi aperti, perché dati i recenti avvenimenti quanto trapelato in queste ore potrebbe effettivamente rappresentare il presupposto per un importante aggiornamento di Whatsapp. Se non sul versante software, quantomeno dal punto di vista delle norme sulla privacy. Staremo a vedere nel corso dei prossimi giorni come evolverà la situazione, anche se al momento sembrano essere piuttosto chiare le visioni da parte di diverse istituzioni governative.

Art. 7 D. Lgs. 196/2003
