Mondi virtuali ed economia reale: Entropia Universe

Vi siete mai chiesti cosa differenzia l’universo virtuale di Second Life dai tanti giochi di ruolo che si possono trovare oggi in rete? La risposta è semplice: Second Life è un mondo virtuale dotato però di un’economia reale. In poche parole, con Second Life possiamo spostare denaro vero fuori e dentro il sistema. Possiamo acquistare e vendere abiti fatti di pixel, e altri generi di prima necessità come case e mobili. Non c’è da meravigliarsi, dunque, se sull’onda del successo di SL, si sono creati rapidamente altri metaversi, con un’economia simile a quella targata Linden Lab.

E’ il caso di Entropia Universe, un MMORPG che però è dotato di un sistema finanziario sulla falsa riga di Second Life, che permette all’utente di trasferire denaro facilmente dentro e fuori Entropia. C’è bisogno solo di una carta di credito. Naturalmente, trattandosi di un MMORPG le attività principali di Entropia saranno comunque quelle di sviluppare punti abilità, e di costruire armature e armi migliori per combattere i mostri. Ma sarà anche possibile avviare un’attività artigianale o mineraria, e mettere in vendita il prodotto finale tramite “marketplace” alla maniera dei social network come Facebook. Strutturato come un universo formato da differenti pianeti, Entropia è un mondo fantastico (e fantascientifico) ma con una solida economia di mercato.
