Anche Facebook accorcia gli URL, ma lo fa a pagamento

La ricerca da parte di Facebook di nuove forme di guadagno sta spingendo anche Facebook verso la possibilità di adottare un indirizzo web breve, da tenere facilmente in memoria, per i profili personali degli utenti. Ma a differenza di Google Accounts e di Twitter, che offrono un servizio analogo gratis, sembra che Facebook abbia intenzione di agire diversamente. A molti utenti satrebbero state rivolte domande sulla possibilità di essere disposti a pagare o meno, per ottenere un Url personalizzato (chiamato anche Nice Url o Vanity Url), e se la maggior parte delle risposte sarà “sì”, Facebook potrebbe in teoria guadagnare milioni di dollari per quest’impresa.

Ma il punto è: pagare Facebook per ottenere un indirizzo web più “friendly” è davvero necessario?

Se il nostro scopo è quello di apparire più in alto nelle risultati delle ricerche di Google allora la risposta è sì. Se invece desideriamo solamente avere un Url più facile da ricordare e da scrivere sui nostri biglietti da visita potrà invece esserci più utile una semplice applicazione gratuita che si chiama appunto Profile Web Address. Come spiega il nome, installando questa Facebook App nelle nostre pagine possiamo avere un indirizzo del tipo http://profile.to/Nome-Che-Vuoi/ oppure www.profile.to/Nome-Che-Vuoi/ dando all’utente la possibilità di impostare i settaggi per la privacy nella maniera che vogliamo.

Se lo desideriamo, tutti potranno visualizzare il nostro nuovo Vanity Url, oppure continuare ad accedere al profilo tramite l’indirizzo alfanumerico di Facebook. Inoltre sarà possibile scegliere anche domini con il prefisso band.to oppure artist.to.

  22. I don’t know if it’s just me or if everyone else experiencing problems with your website. It seems like some of the text within your posts are running off the screen. Can someone else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them too? This could be a problem with my web browser because I’ve had this happen before. Thank you

  23. Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You clearly know what youre talking about, why waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?
