Il social network ha infatti modificato alcuni parametri di ricerca, e da qualche giorno non è più possibile trovare nuovi amici in base alle informazioni della situazione sentimentale. Questo campo di ricerca è stato infatti eliminato dalla ricerca profilo, perciò non si possono cercare solo utenti “single”, o “divorziati”, sperando non solo in una nuova amicizia ma magari in qualcosa di più.

A tale proposito possiamo osservare quanto la politica di Facebook si discosti sempre di più da quella di MySpace. Infatti se MySpace in questi anni si è dimostrato un efficace mezzo per allacciare non solo delle nuove amicizie, ma anche nuovi amori, Facebook non sembra interessato a seguire una simile evoluzione, concentrandosi invece sugli aspetti più legati agli affari, al business.

Un’altra ragione è legata probabilmente a porre un freno ai cosiddetti stalker, che ultimamente sembrano affliggere anche la Rete e i social network, primi fra tutti i criminali pedofili che per un certo periodo avevano eletto proprio il sito di MySpace come “terreno di caccia” per le loro vittime.
