Sergey Brin: Troppi vincoli alla libertà sul web

Internet è da sempre conosciuto come il mezzo di comunicazione più democratico di tutti. Il web permette di dare a tutti la possibilità di dire la propria attraverso blog, commenti, siti web. Ma è ovvio che come ogni mezzo di comunicazione debba subire una tutela e un Garante deve stabilire quali sono i vincoli e i confini da non superare. A proposito di libertà di espressione e di mondo di Internet si è espresso durante un’intervista al quotidiano britannico The Guardian, il co-fondatore di Google, Sergey Brin, il quale ha affermato:

 

“Credo che Internet sia stata una delle forze più potenti per il bene del pianeta nell’ultimo quarto di secolo”.

 
Durante l’intervista ci sarebbero stati diverse critiche rivolte ai colossi Facebook ed Apple che, attraverso la creazione di grandi giardini recintati (walled garden) starebbero di fatto recintando le attività di Internet controllandole e tenendo in questi grandi recinti milioni di utenti. Successivamente Sergey Brin ha smentito alcune sue affermazioni attraverso la piattaforma Plus, in quanto la sua intenzione non era quella di criticare fortemente queste piattaforme on-line, piuttosto ha voluto concentrarsi sui meccanismi di censura imposti dai governi. Ha, infatti, affermato:

 

“Oggi, la minaccia più grave alla libertà della Rete è rappresentata dai meccanismi di filtraggio imposti dai governi per eliminare il dissenso politico. […]Giusto per chiarire, non credo che questi temi siano gravi quanto la censura imposta dai governi del mondo. Provo una profonda ammirazione per le due aziende di cui abbiamo parlato, Apple e Facebook. E mi sono sempre piaciuti i prodotti Apple. Infatti sto scrivendo questo post sul mio iMac con una tastiera Apple.”

 
Facebook e la Apple avrebbero, anzi, contribuito alla libertà di informazione su Internet. Certo è che i social network hanno delle regole ben precise che per alcuni possono sembrare molto restrittive.
