Ci sono un bel po’ di timori infondati da prendere in esame a proposito del possibile passaggio da WhatsApp a Signal. Da quando WhatsApp ha emesso una nuova politica agli utenti per dare il proprio consenso alla condivisione dei dati con Facebook o per perdere i propri account dopo l’8 febbraio, non sorprende che gli utenti lascino WhatsApp e migrino verso altre app come Signal e Telegram. Tuttavia, si tralascia un dettaglio molto importante.

Passare da WhatsApp a Signal non ha così tanto senso

Mentre la popolarità dell’app Signal è aumentata ulteriormente dopo che Elon Musk, recentemente incoronato  “l’uomo più ricco del pianeta”, ha approvato l’app, ci sono informazioni fornite non correttamente sui nuovi termini per la privacy di WhatsApp in Italia, come ci dice il sito Bufale in queste ore.

Più di 100.000 utenti hanno installato Signal negli app store di Apple e Google negli ultimi due giorni, mentre Telegram ha raccolto quasi 2,2 milioni di download, secondo la società di analisi dei dati Sensor Tower, secondo un rapporto di Reuters. Cosa rende Signal App migliore di WhatsApp? In primo luogo, l’app di messaggistica Signal è pubblicizzata come l’app più sicura al mondo e non c’è timore che i dati degli utenti vengano condivisi.

Ancora, Signal App non richiede i dati personali degli utenti come WhatsApp ricorre a fare in nome della privacy. Inoltre, non invia backup non protetti degli utenti nel cloud e mantiene il database crittografato al sicuro nel telefono. L’app Signal ha anche una funzione “Dati collegati a te“, il che significa che nessuno può fare lo screenshot di quei messaggi di chat.

Un’altra caratteristica popolare dell’app Signal è che i tuoi vecchi messaggi scompaiono automaticamente. L’app Signal è stata sviluppata da una società senza scopo di lucro, la Signal Foundation e Signal Messenger LLC. È un’app di messaggistica e funziona su iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, Mac e Linux.

L’app è stata creata da Moxie Marlinspike, crittografo americano che è anche l’attuale CEO di Signal Messenger. Per inciso, la Signal Foundation è stata creata dal co-fondatore di WhatsApp Brian Acton e Marlinspike. Acton ha lasciato WhatsApp nel 2017 e ha investito circa 50 milioni di dollari per aiutare a finanziare Signal.

Di recente, Whatsapp ha chiesto ai suoi utenti di accettare le modifiche ai suoi Termini di servizio e alla politica sulla privacy entro l’8 febbraio, altrimenti i loro account verranno eliminati. È stato parte di un imminente lancio globale per oltre 2 miliardi di utenti, ma la questione non riguarda Italia e resto d’Europa.

Il CEO di Facebook Mark Zuckerberg aveva dichiarato a ottobre che la società sta cercando di unire Messenger, Instagram e WhatsApp in modo che possano iniziare a funzionare un po ‘più come un sistema interoperabile connesso.

È evidente che le modifiche chiave in WhatsApp consentiranno di raccogliere ed elaborare le informazioni degli utenti come parte di una più ampia unità di unificazione tra la famiglia di app, ma non Italia. Si sappia prima di passare a Signal.
