Nella classifica dei social network maggiormente apprezzati ed utilizzati dalla vasta utenza spicca, tra tutti, Facebook che, oramai da diverso tempo a questa parte, detiene in maniera indiscussa il primo posto in classifica distanziando, senza alcun problema, la concorrenza.

Tuttavia, se per quanto concerne il gradino più alto del podio vi sono ben pochi dubbi riguardo il secondo, invece, le risorse di social networking che si contendono tale posizione sono in continua lotta.

Soltanto da pochissimo, però, sulla base delle ultime statistiche rese disponibili dal gruppo comScore, è stato reso noto che ha guadagnarsi la seconda posizione nella classifica dei social network vi è ora LinkedIn che, allo stato attuale delle cose, andrebbe quindi a collocarsi al di sotto di Facebook.

LinkedIn, infatti, a partire da Giugno 2011, ha ottenuto un incremento di viste e, di conseguenza, di utilizzatori che, per froza di cose, hanno portato il social network “professionale” a guadagnarsi la medaglia d’argento superando dunque MySpace il quale, sino a poco prima, deteneva la seconda posizione.

LinkedIn, quindi , con i suoi 33,9 milioni di visitatori unici registrati questo Giugno batte MySpace, che scivola al terzo posto, con 33,5 milioni di visitatori unici registrati nello stesso mese.

La differenza, sebbene non appaia sostanziale, indica comunque una nuova vittoria per LinkedIn, un social network che, spesse volte, viene posto in secondo piano rispetto a tutti gli altri.

Unitamente a quella che è la situazione appena acennata, ad essere particolarmente interessante è anche quella di Twiter che guadagna sempre più visitatori (a Giugno, infatti, sono stati registrati 30,6 milioni di visitatori unici al giorno contro i 27 milioni precedenti) molti dei quali, secondo quanto riportato dalle statistiche, sono soliti servirsi della rinomata risorsa di microbloggin mediante smartphone e tablet.

Tutti i dati in questione, va sottolineato, fanno però riferimento solo ed esclusivamente a quella che è la situazione negli Stati Uniti e, di conseguenza, non rispecchiano lo stato dei social network negli altri paesi.
