Libero compra Matrix, la società di Virgilio

Libero, la società controllata da Weather Investments II Sàrl nota per la gestione del portale Libero.it e delle attività dell’Internet Service Provider ITnet, annuncia di aver formalizzato un accordo per l’acquisizione di Matrix S.p.A, azienda sotto il controllo del Gruppo Telecom Italia sulla base di 88 milioni di euro.

L’operazione permette a Libero di acquisire il portale Virgilio, le concessionarie di pubblicità Niumidia ADV e Iopubblicità e il servizio di informazioni 1254 ed è attualmente soggetta all’approvazione delle Autorità Anti-trust e dell’Autorità per le Garanzie nelle Comunicazioni italiana (AGCOM).

Un’acquisizione molto importante per il mercato internet italiano, visto che l’accoppiata Libero-Virgilio rappresenta in pratica il 60% del market share per un totale di 18 milioni di visitatori unici mensili secondo gli ultimi dati Audiweb View aggiornati a giugno, 3,5 miliardi di pagine viste mese e 14 milioni di email account attivi. Peraltro, adesso Libero rafforza ulteriormente il proprio ruolo nel mercato dell’Online Advertising e dei servizi internet per le PMI, visto che l’accordo comprende anche l’acquisto della concessionaria locale Iopubblicità e all’ offerta di servizi web basati sulla propria infrastruttura di cloud computing.
