Alla base di questo nuovo social network, ci sta una buona dose di criteri di ricerca per affinare i propri gusti e trovare single per un’eventuale nuova conoscenza on line. Questo servizio, promette di realizzare i nuovi incontri tra i single, evitando le brutte sorprese che si celano dietro la rete.

Il nome in codice è Ge.La.To ed è disponibile all’indirizzo http://ge.la.to, in una beta pubblica. Questo sito che potrebbe essere chiamato quasi un aggregatore di social networking, propone al posto dei profili statici da visluaizzare, una serie di profili che derivano da Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr e così via per permettere una ricerca più completa tra i profili. Le affinità prima di tutto.

L’ideatore di questo servizio è Steve Odom, un imprenditore divorziato che è spesso andato alla ricerca di persone unove on line, ma avendo spesso scarsi risultati: “Ho creato questo sito perché non ero soddisfatto di quelli che trovavo in rete dopo la mia separazione ne ho provati molti ma ci mettevo troppo tempo a creare, ogni volta, un nuovo profilo. Inoltre io odio scrivere di me stesso e non sopportavo i rari aggiornamenti che venivano apportati. I miei dubbi hanno trovato conferma quando dall’appuntamento in rete sono passato all’appuntamento reale con una donna. Anche se i nostri profili erano simili non avevamo praticamente niente in comune“.

Tra le funzionalità base di Ge.La.To., si trova quella che permette di eliminare tutti i “singles” su carta che in realtà sono già impegnati o che cercano qualcosa di diverso da una amicizia o una relazione seria, e tutto ciò è possibile grazie al servizio chiamato SCOOP (Social Confidence Of Online Profile), che da un punteggio in base alle informazioni inserite. La convalida di queste informazioni da parte di altri amici del social network, aumenta i proprinumeri di punteggio.
Si può accedere inserendo le credenziali del proprio account di social network, scegliendo un username ed indicando dati sul proprio status. I dati del profilo poi verranno importati automaticamente.

Si tratta di un servizio gratuito che avrà a breve degli sbocchi in una versione premium con funzionalità avanzate.
