Chi si è collegato stamattina a Facebook questa mattina avrà sicuramente notato la lettera aperta del suo fondatore Mark Zuckerberg che faceva bella mostra di sé in primo piano.

Questo è stato un grande anno, che ha reso il mondo più aperto e connesso. Grazie al vostro aiuto, oltre 350 milioni di persone in tutto il mondo usano oggi Facebook per condividere online la propria vita. Per rendere possibile tutto ciò, abbiamo fatto del nostro meglio per mettere a vostra disposizione gli strumenti necessari a condividere e controllare le vostre informazioni. La prima versione di Facebook, lanciata cinque anni fa, conteneva già strumenti per controllare che cosa condividere e con quali persone, singoli o gruppi. Il nostro lavoro in questa direzione continua ancora oggi.

Insomma se davvero esiste un popolo di internet, allora Facebook è la sua nazione più importante, e proprio con il tono enfatico di un presidente alla nazione, Zuckerberg ci informa che il network ha superato oramai i 350 milioni di utenti, e che presto ci saranno grandi novità. Ma quali?

Facebook ha deciso di aggiornare e migliorare le impostazioni della privacy, e di modificare il campo reti, eliminando quelle geografiche, oramai non più adatte a soddisfare il reale bisogno di comunicazione degli utenti.

L’attuale modello di privacy di Facebook, che gravita intorno alle “reti” – comunità scolastiche, aziendali o geografiche – funzionava bene quando Facebook era utilizzato principalmente da studenti, perché era ragionevole pensare che uno studente volesse condividere contenuti con i propri compagni. […] Il nostro piano prevede l’eliminazione delle reti geografiche e la creazione di un modello semplificato per il controllo della privacy, dove ciascuno può decidere a chi rendere disponibili i contenuti: esclusivamente agli amici, agli amici degli amici, o a tutti gli utenti.

Questi cambiamenti, nelle intenzioni di Zuckerberg, dovrebbero trasformare Facebook, in qualcosa di più semplice e immediato dautilizzare. Ma attenzione, perchè le modifiche non avverranno in automatico.

Nelle prossime settimane vi chiederemo di esaminare e aggiornare le vostre impostazioni sulla privacy. Visualizzerete un messaggio che spiegherà i cambiamenti e vi porterà alla pagina dove potrete aggiornare le impostazioni. Una volta terminato l’aggiornamento, verrete reindirizzati su una pagina di conferma perché possiate verificare di aver scelto le impostazioni desiderate.

Per concludere, sta a noi e al nostro buon senso proteggere la nostra privacy. Facciamone un buon uso.

I’ve been using Movable-type on a variety of websites for about a year and am anxious about switching to another platform. I have heard great things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress content into it? Any kind of help would be really appreciated!
