La Microsoft ha reso pubblico l’accordo che porterà gli aggiornamenti di stato di Facebook e Twitter su Bing. Questo significa che sarà possibile ritrovare i nostri pensieri indicizzati su uno dei principali motori di ricerca, ed effettuare ricerche sui principali fatti ed eventi delle due community.

I particolari dell’accordo con Facebook non sono stati ancora resi noti, invece i termini della partnership con Twitter ha suscitato qualche delusione. In primo luogo, il motore di Bing separerà i risultati di Twitter dalla sua ricerca universale. Questa caratteristica era già nell’aria da tempo, cioè da quando Bing aveva inserito la Bing Twitter Search, un’opzione in beta del motore di ricerca (non ancora disponibile in Italia) che permetteva di indicizzare i tweets. Ma il motivo di scontento più forte riguarda la ricerca in tempo reale.

Sembra che Bing, almeno per i primi tempi, non ordinerà gli aggiornamenti di Twitter in base alla freshness, cioè alla freschezza dei contenuti, ma indicizzerà i tweets in base alla loro “rilevanza sociale“. Insomma per Twitter è già pronto un algoritmo di ranking che misurerà l’importanza di un tweet all’interno della community. Già, ma in che modo?

Bing prenderà in considerazione diversi fattori, ad esempio valuterà la qualità del messaggio se, per esempio, contiene un link ad un articolo on-line o una pagina web, valuterà se il tweet è popolare, e quante volte è stato re-tweettato. Ma dulcis in fundo, Bing valuterà anche la reputazione dell’autore, chi è e cosa fa.

Non sappiamo ancora se questa “reputazione” verrà misurata anche in base ai followers di quell’autore oppure no, ma è lecito aspettarsi una corsa ai seguaci, almeno fino a quando questo punto non verrà definitivamente chiarito.
