Il calcio sbarca su Facebook, o forse no?

Facebook si prepara ad una rivoluzione senza precedenti per un mercato, quello dei social network, che ha già dimostrato di poter dominare, comandare e soprattutto cambiare a proprio piacimento, vista la forte base d’utenza di oltre 700 milioni di utenti attivi ogni giorno.

Venerdì sera gli appassionati di calcio potranno infatti seguire gratuitamente la sfida tra FC Wembley e Ascot United, valida per la F.A. Cup, la coppa d’Inghilterra, il trofeo più antico del mondo per lo sport più amato in Italia direttamente su Facebook. Audiance di pubblico potenziale dunque pari all’impressionante cifra di 700 milioni di spettatori.

Il metodo di funzionamento è piuttosto semplice. Sulla pagina ufficiale della Football Association Challenge Cup, la FA, l’incontro tra le due formazioni dilettantistiche, che di fatto apriranno le danze sull’edizione 2011/2012 del trofeo vinto lo scorso anno dal ricco Manchester City dello sceicco Mansour e di Roberto Mancini, sarà trasmesso in diretta streaming a partire dalle ore 20.45 italiane (19.45 locali). L’entusiasmo dei due club è naturalmente contagioso, come dimostrano le dichiarazioni di Mike Harrison, presidente dell’Ascot United.

“Essere presenti già alla prima partita di F.A. Cup è già un onore, ma che addirittura l’incontro venga messo a disposizione gratuitamente a favore di milioni di appassionati è una fantastica notizia per il nostro club”.

La partita dopotutto non è di quelle che solitamente attirerebbero flotte di gente allo stadio o televisioni pronte a lottare all’ultimo sangue per acquisirne i diritti televisivi. Allo stadio di Ascot sono attesi infatti al massimo poco più di 1.000 spettatori, ma la pagina dello sponsor che promuove l’esperimento conta più di 70.000 fan. Per questo gli organizzatori si aspettano che almeno 100.000 persone sceglieranno di seguire la partita su Facebook, più per la novità assoluta di seguirla su un social network che per un reale interesse verso il match, ovviamente.

Al momento sembra che l’esperimento resterà unico per sempre, anche perché difficilmente Mark Zuckerberg vorrà rischiare di intrappolarsi nel complicato mondo delle regole relative ai diritti televisivi. Novità importante e curiosa tuttavia, che gli appassionati di calcio gradiranno sicuramente.
