Twitter abbatte un worm correggendo un bug

Twitter è entrato in gioco nel mondo dei social network pian piano, ma sta diventando un interessante fenomeno che al centro dell’attenzione di tanti comincia a fare grandi numeri. Questi grandi numeri permettono di testare e rilevare nuovi bug e correggere righe di codice man mano che si va avanti. E’ proprio ciò che è accaduto durante il Week end di Pasqua: si è partiti da un bug per capire che in realtà fosse un worm. Gli uomini di Twitter non hanno avuto timore e si sono messi subito al lavoro rimettendo a posto la questione sicurezza del social network.
All’emergere del problema, si sono quadruplicati i messaggi di spam sul sito, derivanti tutti dallo stesso sito web. La confessione dell’accaduto, arriva proprio da uno dei protagonisti: il 17enne Michael “Mikey” Mooney di Brooklyn, che avrebbe scoperto la falla e subito avrebbe sfruttato l’occasione per promuovere il proprio sito “StalkDaily“. Le sue intenzioni, a detta sua, non erano di danneggiare il social network, ma di dimostrare d’aver effettuato una scoperta. Ma dopo la risoluzione dell’inconveniente sul blog di Twitter è subuto apparso che: “siamo stati informati di un sito maligno che sta diffondendo link a StalkDaily.com su Twitter senza il consenso degli utenti grazie ad un cross-site scripting. Ci stiamo adoperando per rimuovere gli update offensivi e per chiudere il bug che ha permesso a questo “worm” di diffondersi. Nessuna password, numero di telefono o altre informazioni sensibili è stata compromessa in seguito all’attacco”.
Il sito che sta vivendo un momento di crescita interessante, di cui anche Microsoft e Google si sono accorti dopo tutta l’ombra fatta da Facebook, sta prendendo comunque in atto di essere considerato. Twitter è comunque un nuovo servizio che ha bisogno di essere “vissuto” dagli utenti per permettere la solidificazione della sua struttura.
Per questo caso, in particolare, dopo l’annuncio di risoluzione il caso sembra chiuso, ma c’è da chiudere l’intero caso sul fronte della sicurezza.

  8. I do like the way you have presented this particular concern and it does indeed supply me some fodder for thought. On the other hand, through everything that I have witnessed, I really hope when other responses pile on that men and women stay on issue and in no way embark upon a tirade associated with some other news du jour. All the same, thank you for this excellent piece and although I can not necessarily go along with the idea in totality, I respect your viewpoint.

I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little vanilla. You might peek at Yahoo’s home page and see how they createwrite post headlines to get viewers interested. You might add a related video or a related picture or two to get readers interested about what you’ve written. Just my opinion, it could bring your postsblog a little livelier.

  29. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is wonderful blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.
