Abbiamo citato spesso la piattaforma di Tumblr come uno dei social networks più semplici e più completi da utilizzare, perché mette insieme community e blog in una soluzione unica, molto indicata per i casual blogger, ovvero chi desidera bloggare ma lo fa solo di tanto in tanto perché non ha  tempo. Ma se desiderate aggiungere un tocco di professionalità in più al vostro mini blog, Tumblr offre l’opportunità di impostare un nome dominio personalizzato da utilizzare al posto di nomeutente.tumblr.com.

Vediamo come fare.

Per cominciare, è necessario scegliere un nome dominio da acquistare. E’ una scelta importante, perché una volta che avrete comprato il dominio non potrete più tornare indietro. Dunque pensateci bene. Se usate il Tumblelog come diario online potete anche usare il vostro nome, altrimenti un nome o una sigla inerente ai contenuti che postate quotidianamente (foto, news, o altro). Però quando registrate il dominio, assicuratevi che il “pacchetto” comprenda la gestione DNS e NAME SERVER, altrimenti sarà possibile impostare quel nome dominio su Tumblr.

A questo punto, aggiungere un dominio su Tumblr è semplicissimo: basterà entrare nel pannello di controllo del provider dove avete registrato il dominio, cambiare il valore del Record A con le cifre 72.32.231.8 e aspettare qualche ora affinché le impostazioni vadano a buon fine.

Per controllare se il nuovo dominio è correttamente configurato, si può cliccare qui e inserire il nome scelto. Se tutto è andato a buon fine, resta un’ultima cosa da fare. Loggatevi su Tumblr, e nella Dashboard cliccate su Personalizza. Poi nella scheda Info selezionate “utilizza un nome di dominio personalizzato” e digitate il nome del nuovo dominio. Per finire, cliccate un’ultima volta su Salva modifiche.

La stessa procedura è valida anche per i sottodomini. Tumblr infatti supporta anche i sub-domain per le estensioni più comuni come IT, COM, NET, ORG, e così via.

    Relatively little is known about these underwater seeps, how they work, how many there are, and how much methane reaches the atmosphere versus how much is eaten by methane-munching microbes living beneath the ocean.

    But scientists are keen to better understand them, as this super-polluting gas traps around 80 times more heat than carbon dioxide in its first 20 years in the atmosphere.

    Methane seeps in Antarctica are among the least understood on the planet, so a team of international scientists set out to find them.     Many of the seeps were found at sites that had been repeatedly studied before, suggesting they were new. This may indicate a “fundamental shift” in the methane released in the region, according to the report.

    Methane seeps are relatively common globally, but previously there was only one confirmed active seep in the Antarctic, said Sarah Seabrook, a report author and a marine scientist at Earth Sciences New Zealand, a research organization. “Something that was thought to be rare is now seemingly becoming widespread,” she told CNN.

    Every seep they discovered was accompanied by an “immediate excitement” that was “quickly replaced with anxiety and concern,” Seabrook said.

    The fear is these seeps could rapidly transfer methane into the atmosphere, making them a source of planet-heating pollution that is not currently factored into future climate change predictions.

    The scientists are also concerned the methane could have cascading impacts on marine life.
