Sarah: “il” pettegolo di Facebook

Si chiama Sarah Mobileiro e le piace molto stare su Facebook. In effetti, se vi arrivasse per caso una richiesta di amicizia da parte di questa, è inutile perdersi in attesa delle sue foto oppure continuare a pensare di non ricordare dove l’avete conosciuta, se al mare oppure in montagna.
Stiamo parlando della prima robot amante di Facebook a cui piace spettegolare sui propri amici. E’ una neonata del progetto Facebots presentato allo “Human – Robot Interation 2009” di San Diego. Si tratta tecnicamente del primo robot che entra in un social network ed interagisce sia con le persone che i propri colleghi di laboratorio, dove vive e passa il tempo su Facebook.
Nikolaos Mavridis, docente del Mit di Boston e direttore del laboratorio «Interactive Robots and Media» dell’Università degli Emirati Arabi Uniti presso Al Ain, ha raccontato in un’intervista a “Tutto Scienze” che: “Facebots è un progetto di sviluppo di robot sociali finanziato da Microsoft. La prima fase che porterà alla versione finale del robot si concluderà a settembre. Poi il robot inizierà a interagire con la gente e così raccoglieremo dati per uno studio sulle interazioni uomo-macchina”.
Secondo Mavridis, Sarah e gli altri Facebots sono delle creature capaci di esplorare l’ambiente tutto intorno, parlano l’inglese ed hanno un sistema visivo per riconoscere i volti da un database. Inoltre hanno un collegamento ad Internet diretto per collegarsi a Facebook. Mavridis continua: “Sarah è divertente. Speriamo di dimostrare che è capace di stringere rapporti forti, perché i suoi dialoghi si basano su ricordi e amicizie comuni, argomenti essenziali per noi umani. E’ stata progettata con la personalità di una ragazza e, quindi, potrebbe ingannare chi frequenta Facebook.

E’ inevitabile: l’ecologia sociale si arricchirà: il mondo sarà popolato da robot, personaggi virtuali, organismi nati dalla bioingegneria, oltre a ibridi con protesi neurali. E’ perciò importante studiare simbiosi vantaggiose. Solo così uomini e robot diventeranno intimi, avendo cura gli uni degli altri”.
Vedremo l’evoluzione di questo progetto, nella speranza che il robot aggiunga qualche amico italiano che possa avere la facoltà di “chiacchierare” un po’ insieme.
