Stiamo parlando di un social network definito dalla critica: “la rete sociale galleggiante“; ma non nel senso che faccia acqua da tutte le parti, bensì che è destinato a chi è in mare. Si tratta di un social network che è destinato ai passeggeri delle nuove navi della compagnia navale Carnival. La nuova nata che si chiama Carnival Dream e che permetterà di viaggiare “comunicando”, partirà per la prima volta da Civitavecchia nel prossimo 21 Settembre 2009.

Dal comunicato stampa diffuso dalla compagnia, siamo venuti a sapere che: “Si tratta del primo social network sul mare, un portale intranet che consente di accedere a numersoi servizi e informazioni relative alla crociera. L’accesso al FunHub è possibile da 36 postazioni collocate ai ponti 3, 4 e 5 o attraverso il portatile personale. Gli ospiti che utilizzano il FunHub possono creare un profilo personale, interagire con altri ospiti a bordo, mandare e ricevere messaggi personali, creare gruppi basati sui propri interessi, invitare amici a partecipare ad un’attività o un evento a bordo”.

Il sito promette di aver la possibilità principalmente di sviluppare una serie di relazioni sociali a bordo, anche prima di uscire dalla propria cabina. Infatti è possibile comunicare la propria presenza sulla nave oltre che la posizione.

Come tutti i social network, le opzioni sono comuni e cioè: la personalizzazione del profilo con informazioni, foto e video, oltre che link; le richieste di amicizia con una divisione tra amici esterni ed ospiti a bordo (e l’interazione con questi ultimi); creare dei gruppi personali e la creazione di eventi.
Un’iniziativa simpatica rivolta soprattutto a chi vuole cominciare a prepararsi una “strada” prima di avviarsi in viaggio e magari arrivare in nave, già con una compagnia organizzata per passare una buona vacanza.
