La moda dei siti web del momento è quella di diventare sempre di più social. Il termine che deriva dal completo social network, continua a prendere possesso di siti web e web applications, che trasforma il “modo di vivere” di questi semplici siti o applicazioni in grandi community. L’ultima “fashion victim” è il sito di Microsoft MSN, che si rifà di nuovo il proprio look per essere più attuale e soprattutto competitivo con gli altri siti internet di ricerca del momento.

A dispetto di Google che integra nel proprio Labs sempre più soluzioni per il social ma rimane esteticamente sempre lo stesso, in casa MSN hanno deciso di portare una svolta definitiva al look del sito web a partire dalla scelta di portare un po’ in secondo piano l’uscita del nuovo search engine Bing e riportare l’attenzione su una vecchia gloria mai andata in pensione: Windows Live Messenger.

Il client di messaggistica istantanea della Microsoft, sembra infatti aver subito dai social network un colpo molto piccolo (si parla del solo 10% dei cali dell’utilizzo). Questo software rimane quindi tra i più utilizzati per le comunicazioni interpersonali, anche se affiancato da colui che cerca di prendere il suo posto: Facebook.

Il sito di Microsoft MSN, sembra essere stato messo a nuovo perchè tra i tanti prodotti di casa Microsoft, è uno di quelli che ancora produce soldi, forse perchè riesce ancora a raggiungere i 600 milioni di utenti unici nel globo di cui 100 milioni solo connessi dagli Stati Uniti d’America.

Ebbene Microsoft allora, ha deciso di prendere un po’ di ossigeno sfruttando la scia di piacevole “novità” lanciata dai social network permettendo sull’estrema destra del sito web di logarsi ed avere sotto controllo contemporaneamente il proprio Windows Live Messenger, l’account di Twitter ed i feed di Facebook. Da qui sarà possibile anche inviare messaggi, commentare ed aggiornare il profilo.

Secondo le prime stime di test, questa nuova veste permette una permanenza maggiore del 20% in tempo sulla Home Page.
