A-ya Chiu è una bella ragazza di Taiwan che ha più di 4.400 gli amici su Facebook. La maggior parte di questi amici sono stati aggiunti per giocare insieme a Pet Society, il gioco della Playfish che ruota intorno a dei curiosi animaletti disegnati con lo stile di un cartone animato. Proprio grazie al suo network, così grande, Chiu è diventata la ragazza più popolare di Pet Society, e il suo alter-ego “IceLashes” gode di uno stile di vita favoloso nel mondo virtuale del gioco.

A-ya Chiu ha 24 anni ed è disoccupata, così passa tutto il suo tempo su Facebook, dedicando al gioco circa 8 ore al giorno. In tre mesi IceLashes, il suo pet, ha raggiunto il livello 38 (su un massimo di 47) e la sua casa virtuale è piena di gadget, e arredata con gli oggetti più belli presi dagli shop virtuali.

A-ya Chiu ha caricato oltre 2.000 immagini, per lo più di IceLashes sul suo profilo utente, e ogni volta che aggiorna lo stato, è normale vedere centinaia di persone che cliccano sul tasto “mi piace”.

A-ya Chiu è un esempio estremo di videogiocatore incallito, ma sono molti i gamers iscritti a Facebook, e proprio loro stanno gradualmente trasformano questo social network in una immensa piattaforma di gioco.
