Secondo la stampa americana, i rumors che parlavano di una presenza massiccia dei corpi segreti americani sul social network Facebook, sembrano essere sempre più reali. In effetti, sembra proprio che il corpo di Intelligence americano, abbia deciso di aumentare notevolmente il proprio controllo su siti internet, pagine personali e soprattutto su profili degli utenti di tutti i navigatori americani.

Tutto ciò, è possibile dopo che la CIA ha acquistato una buona parte delle quote di una major americana di informatica che effettua il monitoraggio di tutto ciò che avviene su Facebook, su Twitter, su MySpace e su tanti altri social network.

La società che si occupa degli acquisti per l’Intelligence, la In-Q Tel, sembra infatti che abbia comprato una quota importante di questa società, la Visible Technologies, che attualmente controlla il contenuto di ben oltre 700 mila siti internet in tutto il mondo. Queste indiscrezioni sono arrivate dalla rivista Wired, che ha anche comunicato lo scopo dell’operazione: tenere sotto controllo i siti stranieri contro il terrorismo. Tutta questa operazione finanziaria, avrebbe un valore economico non indifferente, ma le cifre sono state tenute ben nascoste.

La Visible Technologies, nasce come azienda dedicata ai privati per rilevare quali siti web hanno più rilevanza on line su un determinato argomento, ed il suo valore di affari attualmente tocca i 20 milioni di dollari all’anno. Lo scopo di questa Azienda, è quello di catalogare con cura ogni messaggio, notifica o variazione apportata sui siti web con una percentuale di visite molto alta.

La CIA utilizzerà queste informazioni per tenere sotto controllo i pericoli provenienti dal mondo intero per riuscire a tutelare gli americani. L’attenzione a questa categoria di messaggi è arrivata dopo i risultati della statistica che vedono oltre il 70% degli utenti americani di Facebook, scrivere dal fuori Stati Uniti.

Lewis Sheperd, ex capo della divisione informatica dell’Intelligence del Pentagono, ha dichiarato che: “Se all’Intelligence ignorassero quel volume di informazioni sarebbero semplicemente degli incompetenti“.
