I tempi cambiano ed anche il social network dell’uccellino Twitter si mette al passo coi tempi per aumentare la sicurezza dei suoi utenti. Stiamo parlando della recente introduzione delle opzioni per l’attivazione delle sessioni crittografate, più sicure quindi per gli utenti quando stanno sfogliando le pagine del portale. Per attivare questa modalità, non resta altro che fare click sulla voce Opzioni all’interno del menu utente.

La sicurezza che detiene sempre un posto di rilievo rispetto all’utilizzo dei prodotti stessi, ha fatto quindi un altro passo avanti dovuto anche al fatto che alcuni ricercatori di Dasient qualche settimana fa hanno trovato un altro malware che si aggirava sulla piattaforma nascosto sotto account di prova. Quest’ultimo, una volta contattato traslava un bel po’ di click su un sito che faceva incassare qualcosa di soldini a qualcuno.

Sul link semplicemente la scritta “Fai clic qui per un test di sicurezza”, che portava sul sito web www.hackerhome.org ed apriva la calcolatrice di Windows.

Per aumentare la sicurezza quindi si è deciso di passare al protocollo crittografato di HTTPS, per far si che gli utenti siano maggiormente tutelati (soprattutto gli utenti VIP che sono molto spesso vittima di furti di identità). Facebook che aveva già introdotto l’HTTPS nel Gennaio del 2011, ha fatto quindi scuola dando l’input anche agli altri social network su questa dinamica. Le opzioni di Twitter, infatti, permettono ad oggi di attivare una connessione HTTPS sempre accesa chiamata “Always On”, che permetterà soprattutto di essere tutelati nel momento in cui si utilizzano delle postazioni wireless, situazioni più pericolose per dare il possesso agli utenti sconosciuti con la tecnica del Man in The Middle. Così facendo, ogni informazione scambiata sarà impossibile da identificare. Un’ultima nota che Twitter ha dichiarato e sottolineato è che questo tipo di impostazioni non funzionano sul portale mobile mobile.twitter.com in automatico, ma ci si dovrà connettere manualmente a https://mobile.twitter.com, sperando che lo smartphone supporti la crittografia.
