Facebook, Warner Bros lancia i film a noleggio

Batman The Dark Knight

Warner Bros entra nel mercato del noleggio digitale dei film, e lo fa su Facebook. In altre parole, l’azienda ha deciso di offrire la possibilità di noleggiare e guardare i film in streaming direttamente sul social network di Mark Zuckerberg.

Al momento il catalogo comprende un solo titolo, Batman The Dark Knight, dalla pagina Facebook del film basta cliccare sulla scheda “Watch” per iniziare la riproduzione. I costi? 30 crediti (o 3 dollari), il film potrà essere visto tutte le volte che si vuole nell’arco di 48 ore, dopo non sarà più visibile.

Esperimento decisamente interessante che potrebbe aprire un nuovo mercato per Facebook, il social network farebbe così concorrenza a Netflix, iTunes ed a tutti gli altri store che offrono il noleggio dei film in streaming. E’ vero, al momento il catalogo è limitato, come detto è presente un solo film, e solamente Warner Bros ha aderito all’iniziativa, ma se l’esperimento avrà successo altre case di distribuzione potrebbero offrire i loro titoli su Facebook.

Resta da verificare l’appeal che questa novità avrà tra gli utenti di Facebook. Generalmente gli iscritti al social network di Zuckerberg sono ben disposti a spendere crediti per acquistare oggetti da usare nei giochi, ma non è detto che i consumatori avranno voglia di pagare soldi (o crediti, cambia poco) per vedere un film in streaming.

Il prezzo del noleggio è piuttosto basso, ma con 30 crediti è possibile acquistare oggetti bonus, contenuti extra, vestiti ed altri accessori per i giochi Facebook più popolari, oggetti che oltretutto possiamo continuare ad usare liberamente, mentre il film “muore” dopo 48 ore, a quel punto, forse, conviene uscire, fare due passi e noleggiare un film nella videoteca più vicina.

Vedremo tra qualche settimana quanto successo avrà riscosso questa iniziativa, di sicuro ne riparleremo, perchè le potenzialità sono davvero enormi, non dimentichiamoci che Facebook conta qualcosa come 600 milioni di utenti registrati.
