Facebook acquisisce FriendFeed

friendfeedLa notizia proviene direttamente da Palo Alto in California: Facebook ha deciso di acquisire FriendFeed, il servizio grazie al quale gli utenti possono essere sempre informati, in tempo reale, su cosa fanno i loro amici e dove sono. Il prezzo di tale cessione non è ancora stato svelato ma sicuramente si parla di cifre del calibro dei milioni.

Secondo gli accordi stipulati, gli sviluppatori di FriendFeed saranno tutti quanti assunti da Facebook e svolgeranno ruoli aziendali molto importanti. Nessun licenziamento quindi. Solo un passaggio di proprietà.Tra l’entusiasmo di molti, particolare è quello dei programmatori del servizio tra cui:

Bret Tylor (colui che ha partecipato attivamente alla realizzazione e lancio di Google Maps), che afferma:

Facebook e FriendFeed condividono una visione comune, quella cioè di fornire alle persone gli strumenti per condividere e collegarsi con i loro amici. Non possiamo aspettare a far parte del team e di mettere a disposizione molte delle innovazioni che abbiamo sviluppato per FriendFeed e portarle ai 250 milioni di utenti Facebook in tutto il mondo.

Paolo Buchheit (co-fondatore di FriendFeed e ingegnere di Google Gmail), che ha così commentato la cessione:

Dopo che abbiamo speso molto tempo con Mark e il suo gruppo dirigente, siamo stati colpiti dal clima aperto, creativo e culturale che hanno realizzato, e dal loro desiderio di far contribuire anche noi alla loro opera. Ci è parso subito evidente quanto fossero appassionati gli ingegneri di Facebook e di come stiano creando metodi di condivisione semplici e molto terra – terra, noi siamo molto eccitati di partecipare ad un tale gruppo con questo spirito.

Ultima e più importante, è la voce dello stesso Zuckerberg:

Da quando ho provato FriendFeed, ho ammirato molto la loro squadra per la creazione di un tale servizio semplice ed elegante, che permette alle persone di condividere le proprie informazioni. Con questa acquisizione, la  cultura aziendale di Facebook continua a creare un luogo di lavoro costituito dai migliori ingegneri permettendo così di costruire rapidamente le cose di cui le persone hanno bisogno.

Come per un ristorante il motto è: “Il cliente ha sempre ragione“, pare che quello di Facebook sia sempre: “L’utente deve condividere il più possibile” e pare che questa politica avrà i suoi esiti positivi. L’acquisto di un aggregatore come FriendFeed è un segnale di rinnovamento e di aggiunta di nuove tecnologie. Vedremo nei prossimi mesi come il team di Zuckerberg ha intenzione di sfruttarlo per i propri scopi.

    But, think on this, suppose you added a little content?

    title that grabbed a person’s attention? I mean Facebook acquisisce FriendFeed | IoChatto
    is a little boring. You ought to look at Yahoo’s front page and watch how they create article titles to get people to click.
    You might add a video or a pic or two to grab people excited about
    everything’ve got to say. In my opinion, it might bring
    your posts a little bit more interesting.
