Dorsey da Twitter si lancia nel mondo delle transazioni economiche

E’ partito tutto da un messaggio di Twitter, la news che il CEO di Twitter ha già pronto in cantiere un nuovo progetto a cui dedicarsi, dopo avere creato per primo la main platform di micro messaggistica della rete. Ebbene si, stiamo parlando di Jack Dorsey, che ha deciso definitivamente di buttarsi nel settore delle transazioni economiche on line e nello specifico, ha deciso di ideare e realizzare una nuova applicazione (con ovviamente un servizio dedicato) per l’iPhone che permetta una facilizzazione nell’uso delle Carte di Credito e per le transazioni on-line.

TechCrounch ha divulgato ulteriori informazioni pubblicando un articolo che nasce dalle dichiarazioni della fonte. Però, le notizie supplementari non sono tante, anche perchè sembra che Dorsey sia abbastanza scaramantico. Si conoscono dei dettagli quali il nome dell’applicazione che è conosciuta come Squirrel (scoiattolo) e che non si occuperà solo di gestire i pagamenti, bensì di “rendere qualunque proprietario di iPhone un mercante”. Il funzionamento, dovrebbe essere quello di un software ed un servizio che si avvicinino alle funzioni di un comune POS che utilizzano nei negozi in versione Mobile. Squirrel, vorrebbe essere un competitor di PayPal, ad oggi leader indiscusso del mercato.
Per arrivare a questo obiettivo, occorre però che al dispositivo venga fatta un’aggiunta hardware. Stiamo parlando di un lettore opzionale da interfacciare con il mobile device per permettere la lettura della card. Il punto a favore di questo lettore, è che non prenderà alimentazione dall’iPhone (e quindi non inciderà sui consumi), ma vivrà di energia cinetica creata al passaggio della card stessa.

La cosa certa è che Dorsey ha dichiarato: “Non lascerò mai Twitter, è la mia vita, il mio lavoro e la mia bambina e sarà sempre una parte importante del mio lavoro, sia operativamente che strategicamente. Ma perseguirò anche altre strade e lanceremo Squirrel ben presto”. Attenderemo gli sviluppi.
