SocialSafe è una nuova applicazione che permette agli utenti Facebook di scaricare le proprie foto sul computer, creando così un vero e proprio backup di tutte le proprie immagini dove sono codificate informazioni sul proprio profilo. Una protezione per i propri dati che si potrebbero anche perdere o smarrire dopo una cancellazione del proprio profilo o un attacco esterno proveniente da un hacker.

Ma non è solo questa l’utilità. Difatti, grazie ad una semplice e comoda interfaccia, si ha la possibilità di navigare tra tutte le proprie foto anche quando non abbiamo un diretto accesso ad internet, avendo la garanzia che tutti i file e documenti caricati sul web siano salvati sicuramente sul computer. Ma adesso vediamo come installare e configurare SocialSafe in modo corretto.

SocialSafe è un servizio a pagamento, distribuito al prezzo di 2,99 dollari. Per utilizzarlo, è necessario scaricare il relativo software al seguente sito internet. In primis si riceverà una chiave di licenza che potrà essere utilizzata due volte per attivare SocialSafe su due computer differenti. Successivamente all’attivazione, verrà richiesta l’installazione di Adobe Air e attraverso il Facebook Connect bisognerà inserire le informazioni del proprio account.

Il tempo necessario al download delle vostre immagini è proporzionato a quante ce ne sono e quanto pesano. Ovviamente non c’è da alterarsi se lo scaricamento può procedere per diversi minuti. L’importante è effettuare una copia di backup sicura dei propri dati.

L‘applicazione sembra rispettare i termini d’uso di Facebook e relative politiche sull’utilizzo del Facebook Connect. Per ora SocialSafe è disponibile solamente per Facebook ma in un futuro prossimo, si prospetta di raggiungere anche i concorrenti come Twitter e MySpace. Tutti gli aggiornamenti disponibili per questa versione sono gratuiti. L’aggiornamento futuro a nuove versioni avrà invece un prezzo, ovviamente scontato per coloro che hanno una versione precedente. Speriamo soprattutto che oltre alle sole foto sarà possibile effettuare backup anche di altri dati come commenti e post.
