Il Natale si avvicina e Facebook per quanto popolato da tanti amici, molto spesso ci fa sentire soli in una stanzetta senza una reale compagnia vicino. Ecco che arriva allora una nuova idea regalo che negli Stati Uniti sta andando molto forte: Pingo.
Pingo è stato definito come l’oggetto in grado di portare in vita il proprio account di Facebook. Altro non è che un piccolo robot dalle dimensioni di un uovo e con la forma divertente di un pinguino. Si tratta del cosiddetto partner elettronico interattivo ed ha la facoltà di muoversi ed interagire con noi. Le sue capacità sono quelle di movimento (sulla nostra scrivania ovviamente), del poter rispondere a determinati comandi vocali pre impostati, cantarci le nostre canzoni preferite, leggere i nostri messaggi di posta elettronica oppure i Feed RSS oppure avvisarci sulle previsioni meteo. E’ dotato di due sensori frontali per non farlo sbattere, due ruote autoalimentate, due altoparlanti, un microfono ed occhi luminosi a seconda dei messaggi.
La parte che più ci interessa è quella che vede collegato Pingo a Facebook. Tramite una applicazione scaricabile e legata al nostro account che si chiama My Desk Friend, infatti, possiamo battezzare il nostro Pingo, definire le sue caratteristiche di personalità e soprattutto programmarlo per farlo rispondere a comandi vocali per inviare pokes, regali virtuali o messaggi sul social network.
