Una recente ricerca fatta da Hitwise, ha dimostrato che nell’ultimo anno, Facebook e Twitter hanno avuto un tasso di incremento nello sviluppare e diffondere notizie, molto più alto rispetto a quello (direttamente dedicato) di Google News.

 
Secondo la stampa di settore (che ha ironizzato sull’evento), Mr Rupert Murdoch, dovrà decidere durante il percorso di cambiare l’obiettivo di attacco per fare moneta, canalizzando le proprie energie più verso i social network, avendo un ritorno di fiamma, che verso i siti di informazione, Questo perchè già Google News, sta risentendo della presenza dei social network nel settore notizia.

 
La società americana Hitwise che si è dedicata alla ricerca, ha pubblicato sul The Guardian i risultati. Ad illustrarli, Heather Hopkins, North America analyst di Hitwise. Secondo le sue analisi, l’anno scorso la percentuale di traffico che Facebook ha spedito nei media informativi americani si è triplicata dall’1,2% al ben 3,52%, mentre quella di Google News è ferma all’1,4%.

 
Charles Arthur, capo servizio del settore tecnologia del quotidiano inglese The Guardian, ha dichiarato che: “Il crescente potere di Facebook significa che gli editori che vogliono chiedere soldi a Google News, o che in alternativa lo vogliono chiudere fuori dai loro giornali, perchè sostengono che li ’dissangua’ dei loro contenuti, possono farlo senza temere un impatto drammatico sulla quantità dei loro lettori“.
